About Repair PDF
PDFs get damaged in transit all the time — truncated downloads, broken email attachments, partial saves. Our Repair PDF tool parses the file's object stream, rebuilds the xref table and linearises the document so it loads in any reader.
If the file is too damaged to recover, we'll tell you in plain English — we never silently produce an empty PDF.
How Repair PDF works
Three steps. Done in seconds.
-
1
Drop the damaged PDF
Even files that say "corrupt" or "unreadable" in your PDF viewer are worth trying.
-
2
We rebuild the structure
We use pikepdf's repair path: rebuild xref, defragment the object stream, optionally linearise for fast web viewing.
-
3
Download the repaired PDF
Open it in Acrobat, Preview, Chrome — anywhere. If we can't fix it, we'll say so clearly.

Repair PDF — frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know.
What kinds of damage can you fix?
Truncated downloads, broken xref tables, missing trailers, object stream errors and most of the common "file is damaged" cases. We can't fix pages that simply weren't in the file you uploaded.
Will the repair lose content?
Usually no. Repair tries hard to preserve every page, annotation and form field. Severely damaged files may lose the trailing pages.
Is there a file size limit?
Same as your plan's normal cap (25 MB free, 200 MB Pro, 500 MB Business).
Why does my password-protected PDF fail to repair?
We can't decrypt protected PDFs without the password. Unlock first with Unlock PDF, then repair.
How do I avoid corrupt PDFs in future?
Use stable downloads (we recommend HTTPS direct downloads, not cloud links) and avoid editing PDFs in tools that have a history of producing invalid output.
